Vienna, Austria - 2026

While planning my trip to Slovakia, a colleague who had previously worked in Bratislava told me I should cancel the whole trip and go to Vienna instead. I didn't take his advice entirely, but I did hop on a €10 Flixbus and spent 24 hours there and and he wasn't wrong. Vienna, a former capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is an absolute masterpiece of a city. Amazing coffee shops, beautiful buildings and museums, and some of the best schnitzel I've ever had made it well worth the detour. It's the kind of place that makes you wish you'd booked more time.
